When your family member hurts, you hurt...

Families dealing with untreated addictions and eating disorders can become fractured and suffer from high levels of stress. Family members and friends tend to experience high levels of stress, often describe being on an emotional roller coaster, and frequently feel helpless and frustrated. They are often unable to understand why their loved one refuses to accept professional help and initiate recovery. On many occasions, they may have tried inidivdually or as a group to try to convince their loved to accept their help and are met wtih denial and resistance. There is a way out, through the use of a technique commonly known as "intervention".

How ICM Can Help Through Intervention...

An intervention is a carefully planned and rehersed meeting which includes the suffering individual, their family members, their support system, and two ICM intervention specialists. When properly facilitated, it allows the family and support systems adequatly convey their feelings about the untreated issues and to clearly and with compassion, invite their loved one to accept professional help. The intervention team coaches and guides the participants through all stages of the intervention and facilitates the intervention meeting.

Additionally, the ICM team assists the participants in identifying appropriate levels of care, potential resources for assistance, and handles all aspects of the admission process; allowing the family and friends of an individual to focus on the primary reason for the intervention- to convince their loved one to receive professional assistance and start living again.

The ICM Approach

ICM strongly beleives that detailed planning is the key to a postive intervnetion outcome. For this reason, we do  not facilitate "crisis" interventions and we require a minimum of 14 days of working with intervention participants prior to faclitating an intervention.

We DO NOT utilize intervention approaches which are shaming or confrontative. Our focus is on empowering the family, friends, and person of concern to move from dysfuntion of the addiction to growth and recovery.

ICM Associates always utilizes a two-intervention specialist team approach. We have four intervention specialists on staff and each family is "assgined" two staff members to co-jointly facilitate their intervention. We strive to select the "best match" for each individual family. Additionally, the entire ICM team works diligently on each interventon. When ICM facilitates your intervention, you are guaranteed an individualized, professional, and team approach. Let our family help yours!

ICM Associates Is NOT affilitated with the TV show "Intervention"

If you are considering hiring an intervention specialist, please be selective in your process of hiring. Intervention specialists should have signficant clinical training, training in areas specific to addictions, and  when possible, be credentialed. Please contact us if  you are looking into facilitating an intervention. We would be happy to address any questions you may have and find an intervention team that is reputable and the right one for your family.
